3.6 Module 4 - Buy
Most services to ‘buy’ are based on stock control rationing:
breakfast packs,
midnight snacks,
moving packs, (boxes, tape),
toiletries and essentials.
Stock re-ordering: Site Staff can
see when stock is getting low
(when using the Admin side of the
App) so they can re-order.
For food and drinks the relevant regulations are: Regulation (EC)
No. 852/2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs and The Food Hygiene
(England) Regulations 2006 – Schedule 4 Guide to Compliance for
the Vending and Dispensing Industry.
There are NO critical control points for category A and B foodstuffs. All controls are those of Good
Manufacturing Practice which implies sell by dates, handling, cleanliness drinking water regulations etc….
Safety Category Products
Category A. Cans, bottles, Confectionery
Prepacked shelf stable foods/drinks Bagged snacks: Potato crisps, extruded snacks Ambient stable bakery
(ready for use) products: biscuits, flapjacks, etc. Fruit: apples, bananas
Category B. Hot drinks made from powders: coffee, tea, hot chocolate cappuccino,
Drinks soups Cold drinks, carbonated or still, ice cubes
For Apartment cleans: slots are based on capacity per day, this
means that the capacity can be varied in Admin setup depending
on the number of cleaners on shift that day.
Vending: whilst vending is generally a declining business due to
the rise in the ‘coffee culture’ but can be useful in an unmanned
site. Most vending companies have size thresholds below, e.g.,
canned drinks – 100 apartments,
snack machines – 75 employees.
Other vending options include:
sanitary, condoms and cash dispensers.
